Emily Schmidt Barnette has worked in healthcare since 2010, starting as a receptionist and working her way up to leading teams of auditors and educators in a large-scale primary care setting. She has a master’s degree in health informatics administration and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in strategic leadership. She holds certifications from both AHIMA and AAPC and has spent many years serving as an officer in the Daytona Beach, FL AAPC chapter. In 2020, she was selected as AAPC’s Officer of the Year. In 2022, for the first time in many years, Emily is not serving as a local chapter officer because she had a baby boy in March, and has discovered that she enjoys spending time with him even more than she loves coding!
While free time is at a premium for Emily, when she does have a few minutes to herself, she enjoys reading, playing games, and outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. A Maryland native, Emily has lived in the Daytona Beach area for 17 years and has no plans to return to the land of the cold.
